Overcoming technical hurdles of ENS-based clubs

Our proposal is to work with developers of ENS-aligned websites (ens.vision, rareID) to introduce a functioning database that hosts ENS category/club domain information to enhance search protocols on major exchanges.

Through the course of establishing the 360° Club we worked through unnecessary barriers that obfuscate prominence of ENS-based communities, main being the technical challenge of establishing the specific set of domains that pertain to a club on various platforms and services. We would like to eliminate this hurdle for future clubs (as well as current) and lobby platforms (OpenSea, Looksrare, etc.) to adopt a standardized set of search protocols for ENS domains, better Discord gating of communities (via guild.xyz, collabland), and easier access to establishing categories on ens.vision (which is currently centralized and has to be approved and manually listed by a single person). Our principal objective is to come to a point where there is a database of clubs that is free for any club to join (as long as it doesn't overlap with others), and from which all the other platforms can draw information. This will benefit new clubs, helping them get off the ground and spreading the popularity and usability of ENS domains as a whole.

Alignment with ENS DAO values

Excerpt from the ENS DAO Constitution: “Article III. Income funds ENS and other public goods. Any income generated to the ENS treasury is to be used first of all to ensure the long-term viability of ENS, and to fund continuing development and improvement of the ENS system. Funds that are not reasonably required to achieve this goal may be used to fund other public goods within web3 as ENS governance sees fit.”

Our proposal to work with developers of ENS-aligned websites (ens.vision, rareID) to introduce a functioning database that hosts ENS category/club domain information and that is accessible to the general public directly aligns with the objectives of the ENS DAO to ensure the long-term viability of ENS and to fund the development and improvement of the ENS system. Our proposed database will form the basis of enhanced search protocols on major exchanges and will improve the visibility and public access to ENS domains, especially those that are part of newly formed clubs.

Budget and expenditures

The funds requested in our proposal will be distributed among 360° Club Founders to compensate them for their effort.
