The ultimate objectives of the Dream DAO are to, by 2030 - have directly supported 2,000+ Gen Z Builders in learning how to leverage web3 to accelerate the flourishing of their communities and the world, and have inspired 1 million more Gen Zers outside of the DAO to explore the intersection of web3 and social impact.
Key points of the Dream DAO:
- We have seasons, each 6 months long- since the DAO was launched in January 2022, the first season ended in June and the DAO is currently in the 2nd season.
- The DAO is made of two key member types: Builders (15-20yr old Gen Zers onboarded to web3) and Champions (established leaders in the web3 space). This Builder-Champion relationship is very unique to the DAO.
- We help build the web3 x social impact ecosystem by investing in three complementary areas of focus:
- a) EDUCATION: Our “Learning Together” series is hosted twice a week and features a community member or guest hosting a lecture on a web3 concept and spreading the word on the Solarpunk future we envision will come with web3 x social impact. Past guest hosts have included Gitcoin founder Kevin Owocki and Ethereum Foundation Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi.
- b) INTERNSHIPS: A two-month internship program called the Dream DAO Explorers Program— for 15-20 year olds seeking to be and build the future of web3 x social impact. The summer 2022 pilot program successfully hosted 11 Dream DAO Builders as interns at web3 organizations making social impact (e.g. Gitcoin, Celo).
- c) IRL WEB3 GATHERINGS: The Dream DAO pays for some of our community members to travel to, co-organize, and operate these events. Our community won 3 awards in the ETHMexico hackathon, and also made their mark at conferences in Goa, NYC, Bogota, and Austin.
In Season 1, we were lucky to be financially supported by Coinbase, Celo, the Ethereum Foundation, and NEAR.
Our mission is to empower Gen Z to explore and build the future of regen web3, and in Season 1 we did this by:- Onboarding 40 diverse young leaders (15-20 years old) to regen web3 — we are majority non-white, majority young women, and are about 50-50 split between US/non-US, matching 15 of our young members to internships at leading regen web3 orgs (e.g. Celo, Regen Network, etc.), hosting 30 learning sessions with impact-oriented web3 leaders.
With this funding, we will continue to build out the DAO to empower more Gen Z at a deeper level. The funds will be used to fund our bounty system, which allows builders to spend more time in web3 working on impactful projects by preventing them from having to choose between paid work and meaningful work.
