The Token Engineering Commons (TEC) is a project governed by $TEC founded to advance the new multidisciplinary field of token engineering. This new field brings engineering rigor to the design, verification, and optimization of complex crypto-economic systems.
Just as civil engineering enables you to confidently drive across a bridge without reading or understanding its blueprints, token engineering will one day do the same for complex crypto-economic systems. By contributing to the TEC, you support the development of a new engineering discipline that will help prevent the crypto meltdowns that have hurt so many and so damaged the reputation of blockchain technologies in the eyes of the public. Token engineering is what spots the next potential UST/Luna well before it ever comes close to collapse.
In this sense, token engineering is an essential public good for the blockchain. In 2022, the TEC distributed some $240,000 USD in public goods funding to advance this field. We are now rolling out a Gitcoin Program Beta Round dedicated solely to token engineering. It uses TEC matching funds as a catalyst to spur widespread support for this burgeoning discipline. When you support the TEC itself, your funds act as a powerful multiplier in advancing this essential public good.
Much of the TEC’s grant making since our launch in January 2022 has gone to educating the first generation of token engineering practitioners. Our strategic framework places education as the TEC’s top priority in building this new discipline, and explains our deepening partnership with the Token Engineering Academy. One of the most exciting projects that this partnership is focused on right now is applying Large Language Models (LLMs), like GPT, to make token engineering tools and knowledge easily accessible to the broader web3 ecosystem. Your support for the TEC will play a vital role in accelerating this work.
