Governance Day

The Biggest Governance Event in Latin America

Governance Day - 2nd Edition Argentina

The Governance Day’s goal is to connect the community with Web3 governance by facilitating spaces for exchange, debate, and collaboration among entire DAOs and the Web3 space. The event will bring DAO culture to local communities.

This all-day event is designed not only for DAOnerds but also entry-level enthusiasts who want to explore the DAOverse. It will feature talks, roundtable discussions, builders' challenges, practical exercises, and debates with professional delegates.

Our aim is to enhance processes in Web3 governance through activities that combine practice and theory, drawing on diverse experiences CrossGovernance.

Building Crypto Community in Latam and Previous events

SEED Latam started as DeFi LATAM in early 2020. A study group for Blockchain enthusiasts was created and it soon became a community focused on studying new protocols and platforms.

The initial group turned into a global network on Telegram and Discord, promoting collaborative learning. Specialized groups formed, allowing communities and projects to grow.

From small gatherings in Buenos Aires, our first DeFi Latam meetup had 20 attendees. Now, we have a thriving community of over 250 participants across the country.

In 2022 and 2023, we hosted monthly meetups across Argentina and participated in various Latam events. You can see our highlights and journey building the crypto community here: https://seedorg.super.site/communities.

SEED

Governance Day Overview

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina. When: August 2024

Why Does Governance Day Matter?

At SEED, all our initiatives are driven by a community-centric and educational focus. As we delved into governance, we began involving the community in decision-making processes and governance practices. We observed a lack of platforms for such interactions. Thus, we aimed to replicate the discussions and exchanges found in governance forums in this real-life event: Governance Day.

The Governance Day was the first governance event exclusively in Latin America, hosted in Argentina, as a side event to Eth Argentina. With over 250 attendees, supported by Wonderland, Connext, Decentraland DAO, Optimism en Español, Kleros, and HAI.

During Governance Day, we rented a co-working space for delegation members, collaborators, and the SEED Latam team. This space not only served as a workspace but also fostered vibrant networking and collaboration. Dubbed "CaSEEDta," it felt like home for our team. Additionally, we welcomed visits from protocols and diverse communities, engaged in brainstorming sessions, and explored avenues for collaboration.

For this second edition, we aim to recreate this success! Following Governance Day, we witnessed increased engagement in governance, sparked new ideas, formed working groups, builders seeking funding, and study groups. We strongly believe in the importance of fostering networking opportunities between DAO enthusiasts and the protocols involved.

Roadmap & Milestones Governance Day 2nd Edition

Draft

Pre-Event:

As part of our ongoing GovTalks, we have been hosting discussions with experts and projects deeply involved in governance. During these sessions, we share knowledge in an open and accessible YouTube livestream for the community. Through GovTalks, individuals keen on DAOs can arrive at the event better informed. We will formally announce and promote Governance Day during one of these GovTalks.

During the Event:

We will bring together different professionals from the SEED Gov team, along with other delegates, projects involved in DAOs and ecosystem stakeholders, for an inclusive and collaborative event among DAOs.

The event will feature discussions on a range of relevant topics, including:

  • Onboarding: First contributions - How to participate
  • Round tables: Builders challenges - Ecosystem strategy
  • Practical exercises: How to build a DAO
  • Professional Delegate debates
  • We also welcome suggestions for additional topics, such as Incentive Programs, Financial - Treasury, Tooling, Founding Allocation, and SubDAOs, and more!
  • Networking Space

Post-Event:

Just like last year, we're also providing an open coworking space for builders to connect and continue their discussions beyond the forum in the days surrounding the event, taking advantage of the gathering those interested in governance who will be in Argentina in August.

The famous "CaSEEDta" we rented serves not only as a coworking space but also as accommodation for those traveling from the interior of the country to attend the event. Instead of opting for a traditional coworking space, we have rented a house in Palermo, providing greater comfort and accessibility for all attendees. Besides being a practical solution, this choice offers financial assistance to those wishing to participate in the event but may need support to cover travel expenses.

Following the event, we will provide a comprehensive recap, including all talks and discussions, which will be made available on our YouTube channel.

Budget and Expenses for the Event

  • Venue Rental (AreaTres): $6,710
