Update: Since the last Gitcoin round, Women Build Web3 has published Building Fullstack Dapps, a free, online, async course. This course was released in Spanish and English, with over 10K lines of curriculum and live workshop sessions from the top developers in web3. A team of fifteen people worked over 4 months to make this course a reality. Over 2000 developers have registered to take the course, and over 1500 are in our Launchpad discord, a server where our team answers questions in real-time and supports students as they go through the community. You can check out the course here. You can view the live workshops that came from the course here.
This grant will support the following:
Paying contributors to maintain and monitor the course contents of Building Fullstack Dapps to ensure it stays up to date, monitoring the launchpad server where students gather Paying the core team of WBW3 to create new initiatives like hackathon scholarships, IRL events, and more Paying contributors in working groups to support them in shipping open source software Paying for resources and tooling needed to support the growing community
Women Build Web3 is an accelerator for female and nonbinary engineering talent. We're creating an engine for innovation and a launchpad for women-led engineering projects. We work with web2 developers who are web3-curious and run a 5 month program to support engineers from discovery to job placement. WBW3 is raising funds for our treasury to support public goods and open source projects built by vetted female and nb developers in phase 2, as described below.
Our program runs in 3 parts:
Part 1 - 30 days of web3. The WBW3 team creates curriculum and hosts the content publicly on twitter and on our website for anyone to participate. Through these 30 days, we walk people through deploying their first fully decentralized application. Participants learn how to write a smart contract, deploy it, work with an off-chain storage provider, build a subgraph for their indexing layer, and build their front end. Through this, participants build out an architectural reference for how to build a dapp. Women and nb people who meet a standard of completion of this will be invited to participate in phase 2.
Phase 2 - Accelerator. Accelerator is a 3 month program where members can request funding from our treasury to work on a promising dapp idea. During these 3 months, members get access to mentors and the community of developers to work on getting their project across the finish line. Through this, devs build up their experience and reputation in the space.
Phase 3 - Job placement. Members who successfully deliver their project from phase 2 get connected to our sponsors looking to hire developers and dev rels. We spend 1 month supporting members through this journey.
